Chemistry

WTF? That's all I've really got to say about the subject. I'm extremely annoyed that I have to take this class. I thought taking it online would be the easiest way to go. What the fuh-hell was I thinking??? I just have to keep telling myself that I WILL survive this damn class!!!

Until next time...

I'm going! I'm going!

Okay so last Monday I somehow convinced my friend Amanda that it would be a great idea to donate blood. A church down the street from my house was having a blood drive! Knowing that my blood type is O, therefore I rule, I thought it was our duty to donate! Mind you, this was after inhaling about 7 spicy garlic chicken wings, an order of delicious onion rings and enough pop to rot all y'all's teeth. Anyway, we show up, sign in and fill out our questionnaire. Quick question, why did they want to know if I've just had sex with a man who has just had anal sex with another man? Like I was really going to be honest about that one! Ha! Anyway...

They get me hooked up and I start drippin' some blood in my bag. I'm feeling pretty good about what I'm doing. My blood could actually help save someone's life. Awesome right? So I was just about done when I turn to Amanda and tell her my stomach was feeling a little nauseous. Right after I tell her that I started to feel a little dizzy. So I tell the lady standing next to me, who is now working on another person that I’m starting to feel dizzy. She has the audacity to look at me and say, “Oh okay” and then continue working on the other person. So as soon as she turns around I say, “Nope…. I’m going! I’m going!!” And there I was, my world starting to turn fuzzy and grey. My eyes start rolling back in my head and the only thing I can think to say is…. I’m going???? Where was I going exactly? According to the guy who flipped me back in my chair, threw a wet nap on my forehead and neck and who urged me to “DRINK THIS” Gatorade, I was going no where but staying with him. I said, “Nope, I’m going!” He says to me, “I don’t know where you think you’re going but you’re gonna stay right here with me.” Before I knew it, and trust me, I don’t even remember this happening, but the needle was out of my arm and I was told the color was returning to my face. Mind you, when the dude flipped my chair back all I could see were my toes and they looked like little white, mini, uncooked sausages. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.

After I ate my TWO oreo cookies, (which to be honest really is the only reason I donated… they give you juice and cookies when you’re done!) I moved to the cookies and juice table with Amanda where we were STUCK between two old biddies who were discussing all of their ailments with us. Mind you… I was *this close* to death a few minutes before and this old lady tells me, “Last year I donated blood and two weeks later I had a stroke.” A stroke???? GREAT! So now I’m expected to DIE NEXT WEEK! Is that what you’re telling me! If I had any energy I SWEAR I would have smashed my oreos in her face. Actually no…I would have opened a new package and smashed those in her face. My cookies weren’t going anywhere but HOME WITH ME!!

Until next time…
Stacy

ps... I had to fill out an "incident report" and they finally called me yesterday to check on me. Apparently to see if I've had my stroke yet.

Tomorrow I start my online chemistry class... we'll see how that goes and if I can maintain my Dean's List status! LOL!!

The home stretch

Well this week is finals week for me. I've already finished my sociology online class and based on the grades I have in there, I will have a B in the class. My other online class, Ivy 101 (which was dumb by the way), I've already received an A. This week I have a final in micro and in anatomy & physiology. I feel pretty good about the ANP one, but not so much the micro final. I have begun studying today and I have until Thursday to take the micro exam. I feel good. Wish me luck! I can't believe this semester is FINALLY about over!!!! Next up! Chemistry! *barf!*

Until next time...

In the voice of Sylvester...

Suffering Succotash! That's what I currently sound like thanks to my disobedience with my original orthodontist. In January 2003 I got my braces removed to show a new beautiful, straight smile. I didn’t follow instructions and here lately my teeth had started to shift back into their old home. SO… I sucked it up and went back to the ortho, forked over 900 bills and they gave me new pretty pink retainers with springs in them to help move my teeth back into the old, new, straight smile. Now I’m suffering miserably and I sound like a special kid who rides the short bus!! Oh well… it’ll be all worth it because I’ll have that beautiful, straight smile back in about six months and I can move on with my drooling self.

In school news, I have only two weeks. I say only like it is no big deal but the fact of the matter is, these next two weeks are going to be HELL!! PURE HELL!!! I have a microbiology test next week and then the week after that I will have my final anatomy exam PLUS my final micro exam. Let us not forget the 2000 word minimum, 6-8 page paper I have to write for sociology. Working title: Sociology and Me. I know right? I puked in my mouth a little too. I’m taking the sociology online so I’ve been able to work ahead so I can leave plenty of study time for anatomy and micro. I also need to sit down and make my cheat sheet for my micro final exam. We get to use a card for the test and I already know what I’m putting on it: chemistry and antimicrobial drugs. Two of the things I couldn’t remember for the life of me and failed miserably on previous tests. LOL.

I’ve registered for my summer class, which funny enough, is Intro to Chemistry. I’m taking this class online because I plan to have foot surgery this summer. I went to the foot doc today and he told me the pain in the bottom of my foot is plantarfasciitis which is the inflammation of the tendons in my foot. Sounds like fun right? Wrong! It hurts like a mother effer! So after we get this taken care of, by taking an anti-inflammatory, wearing arch support insoles and a really, really tight sock, it should go away. Then after that we plan to work on those annoying bunions that have been killing me ever since I can remember. He said I am in the “moderate stage” and that it will be a fairly simple surgery to take care of them. I will be in a walking boot for about 5 weeks and we can only do one foot at a time. I’m totally going to do the left one first because I have to drive Cami to summer gym/band camp every day this summer. He also said there shouldn’t be any need for crutches. Yay me! I hate those suckers. Anyway… I think I’ve written enough today so I’m out! PEACE!!

Until next time...

Itchy anus what?

On Tuesday I had a microbiology lab exam and I was so scared I was going to bomb it! A lot of what I needed to study was worms and their life cycle. I had remembered ALL of the worms and their eggs but I couldn't for the life of me remember HOW humans get them and WHAT they do to humans so I didn't get a lot of that part of the question right. But my favorite one of all, the worm that gives you anal itching, I got RIGHT!!! (that would be the enterobius vermicularis-or pinworm to those who are keeping score) Anyway, I got my test results today and I got a 75%!!! I'm so excited! I know, I know... a 75? you ask... but trust me... this is GREAT news for me considering how nervous I was about this test to begin with. The last thing I have to do is my final exam for lab on this coming Tuesday and if I do well on it, it will replace the sucky grade I received on our first lab exam... which I am too embarassed to tell you what it was! (*cough*65*cough*)

Well that's the only thing new with me. I have to work tonight and I'm totally not looking forward to it, especially with this FABULOUS weather we are having!!!

Until next time...
